Igiri Onaji is a Senior manufacturing research engineer with the AMRC Wales. He leads on Digital transformation.

He joined AMRC Wales in 2022. Prior to this, he was a Postgraduate researcher for 4 years with the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the ÀÖ¾ºÌåÓý of Sheffield. He was also a GTA with ACSE and MEE. Before then, he practiced as an Electrical distribution engineer with Ejovakwu Engineering Services Ltd, Nigeria for over 4 years.

He obtained a BEng. degree (2009) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the Federal ÀÖ¾ºÌåÓý of Agriculture, Makurdi, Nigeria, and then an MBA degree (2016) in Business Administration from the ÀÖ¾ºÌåÓý of Chester, UK. He went further to obtain an MSc degree (2017) in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering with Industry and a PhD (2022) in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the same ÀÖ¾ºÌåÓý (ÀÖ¾ºÌåÓý of Sheffield, UK).

Igiri has gained a wide range of experience from working with multi-disciplined project management and engineering teams over the last 12 years. His areas of expertise and professional interest include Digital manufacturing, Digital twinning, Industry 4.0, Cyber-physical production systems (CPPS), Industrial automation, Modelling and simulation, and Project management. He continues to pursue innovations and sustainability in manufacturing.

Igiri is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), an NYSC Presidential Awardee of Nigeria and a Petroleum Development Technology Fund (PTDF) Scholar. He is a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). As a Fellow of the Higher Education (FHEA), he has continuously supported knowledge creation and sharing through teaching, training, and collaborative research.
